What will you do on the programme?
Ready to kick-start your IT career? Join our IT Graduate Programme and become part of the team that powers our global operations. You’ll gain practical experience across a wide range of IT disciplines, working on real projects that make a difference. From day one, you’ll be involved in shaping our digital future, supporting the systems and services that underpin our business.
Depending on your interests and placements, you could explore areas such as data, enterprise systems, AI, cybersecurity, infrastructure, or strategic transformation. You might help shape our IT strategy or support smarter decision-making by building dashboards, data apps, and enabling predictive analytics.
Your work may involve maintaining critical systems like SAP and IFS, enhancing cyber resilience through threat detection and risk management, or evolving infrastructure to ensure secure, scalable, and high-performing environments across cloud, connectivity, and operational platforms.
In Business Relationship Management or the Project Management Office, you could help translate business needs into IT solutions, coordinate project delivery, and support governance across the portfolio.
This is your opportunity to gain exposure to different areas of IT, develop your skills, and discover where your strengths and passions lie.
How is the programme structured?
The programme runs for two years and is built around a series of structured placements. In your first year, you’ll rotate through core areas of the IT function including Strategy and Architecture, Development, Project Management, Business Relationship Management, the Transformation Office, and IT Services. These areas are the backbone of how we deliver value, drive innovation, and support the business. Each placement is designed to give you broad exposure and practical experience across the organisation.
You’ll also be invited to drop-in sessions to explore other IT functions, helping you shape your second-year focus. In year two, you’ll dive deeper into specialist areas aligned to your interests and career goals, taking on more responsibility and contributing to strategic projects.
Every placement is designed to support your development, helping you grow professionally as you take the first steps in your IT career.
How do we develop and support you?
From day one, you’ll receive structured support, personalised training, and dedicated mentorship to help you excel throughout your programme and beyond.
You’ll join our Graduate Development Programme, featuring expert-led masterclasses on communication, personal branding, resilience, and wellbeing.
Our Emerging Talent team and the IT Graduate Steering Group will provide regular reviews and ongoing encouragement to help you stay on track and make the most of every opportunity.
What’s waiting for you after the programme?
Upon successful completion of the programme, you’ll be considered for a substantive role within our IT function. You’ll be ready to build on everything you’ve learned and play a key role in supporting the digital backbone of a business that delivers critical services across Marine, Land, Aviation and Nuclear sectors. The work you do will support innovation, drive efficiency and contribute directly to national security.
From there, your development doesn’t stop. We’ll support you as you grow into more senior roles and take on greater responsibility. Through the Babcock Role Framework, you’ll have a clear view of how your career can progress, with mapped-out pathways, development opportunities and the tools you need to get wherever you want to go.
What rewards and benefits will you get?
We want you to feel supported, valued and excited about what’s ahead. That’s why we offer a comprehensive package designed to support your development, your wellbeing and your life outside of work too.
In addition to a minimum starting salary of £35,000, you’ll benefit from:
