About the role
As the Systems Engineering and Integration Manager, you will lead the Systems Engineering and Integration delivery stream, providing technical direction and people leadership across the design, delivery, acceptance and sustainment of the Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System (EDHFCS) and other related projects.
The role holds accountability for the Mission and Support System throughout the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements management, system integration, acceptance testing and certification.
This includes overseeing the development and ongoing management of the D-Lab and System Integration Test Lab (SITL), coordinating integration activities across facilities and operational sites throughout Australia, and leading technical investigations, risk assessments and troubleshooting activities.
The position will also contribute to project governance, engineering management documentation, customer engagement, business development and continuous improvement across the engineering lifecycle.
About you
A strong background in systems engineering, systems integration and technical delivery across complex projects or programs will be essential, supported by demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering activities.
Strong technical judgement will enable effective decision-making across requirements management, system analysis, integration, testing, certification and technical risk, with the ability to translate complex engineering challenges into practical and sustainable solutions.
Leadership capability is equally important, with a proven ability to build high-performing teams, develop engineering talent and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills will support effective engagement with customers, technical teams and senior stakeholders, while a commitment to engineering excellence, product safety, regulatory compliance and knowledge sharing will help strengthen Babcock’s long-term technical capability.
To be successful in this position you will bring:
- Extensive experience in relatable technical/engineering roles.
- Proven ability to manage an applicable engineering function.
- An excellent understanding of applicable engineering toolsets (e.g. PLM or MRP systems, design, simulation and analysis software).
- Significant Systems Engineering experience within Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) or the wider defence industry.
- Knowledge of security principles especially in High Frequency communications.
- Familiarity of ILS, RAM, Safety and E3 processes and requirements.
