In this role, you will:
Provide technical writing, editing, and formatting support to the Marine & Mission Systems Department by:
Proofreading and copyediting and documents with an emphasis on reviewing and applying the rules of grammar and usage, mechanics, spelling, punctuation, style and organization.
Editing documents using MS Word tracked changes to ensure Corporate and Program consistency, correct errors, and to improve clarity, conciseness, accuracy, readability and connection with an intended audience.
Coordinating the production of all Contract program documents such as deliverables (i.e., engineering reports), pro formas, proposals, and letters.
Supporting the creation of online and print documents such as engineering reports, business reports, policies, processes, proposals, formal letters, etc.
Collaborating with clients, users, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to translate their knowledge into useable documentation.
Applying a unified content strategy approach during the drafting and editing of templates, proposals, deliverables, and procedures.
Provide Document Management support by:
Supporting the Document Control and PMO shared inboxes.
Circulating and tracking documents for internal review and approval.
Submitting approved documents to the Client in accordance with internal and Contract processes.
Registering documents in the document management systems, including Babcock, Client, and Subcontractor documentation.
Issuing controlled documentation as required on projects.
Updating department templates, policies, and processes.
Reporting to the Document Control Lead
Supporting other related activities as required.
The ideal candidate brings:
A diploma or degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three-plus years of professional experience as a technical writer and/or editor.
Experience in writing and editing technical documentation such as contract bids, proposals, business texts, and technical reports (previous experience with technical terminology is considered an asset).
Advanced oral and written communication abilities, including superior grammar skills.
Interpersonal skills for collaboration with subject matter experts, colleagues, clients, and users.
Ability to function in a self-directed manner in a team environment, including personal workload management (organizing and prioritizing).
Excellent time management skills with a focus on meeting deadlines in a high-paced environment.
Extensive knowledge and experience using MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, MS PowerPoint, Viso, SharePoint and/or other document management systems.
Skills researching information and attention to detail.
Experience working with the Department of National Defence (DND) and/or Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) (an asset).
Eligibility for Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
