Salary range: £45,000 to £67,000 per annum depending on experience
Location: Bristol or Gloucester but will consider other FNC offices
Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home

We support clients in all parts of the UK civil and defence nuclear industry, as well as a variety of non-reactor, and experimental or small-scale projects. We provide technical expertise to our clients on engineering projects for the design, construction, operation, inspection, maintenance and decommissioning of nuclear facilities; much of our work is in support of the safety case, in the context of UK nuclear regulation and broader UK safety regulation and good practice.
We are looking for people with applicable skills, knowledge and motivation to join our diverse team and continue to develop our capability in this area.
In a Nuclear Safety Case Development role, you will be expected to undertake project work for clients on, or in support of, significant nuclear safety case and assurance tasks; assess engineering problems and justify solutions for safety; develop relationships with clients and support securing new work. At times you may coach colleagues and support their project work and development. Rapid learning of new systems, organisations and processes is essential, as is clear communications.
This is an opportunity for candidates with some relevant experience, who are adaptable and able to perform the following kinds of roles (experience in all of these is not expected):
- Develop and execute strategies to tackle nuclear safety challenges.
- Perform technical tasks such as HAZID, fault schedule development, design basis analysis, probabilistic analysis, safety functional requirements, HAZOP.
- Conduct periodic review of safety of nuclear facilities.
- Qualification and substantiation of systems against safety requirements.
- Internal and external hazards assessments.
- Safety case development and support for nuclear and non-nuclear plant.
- Authoring clear and accurate safety-related technical documents, tailored to suit their purpose and audience; often assessing and summarising information and assembling arguments to justify safety.
Essential Requirements:
- Demonstrable 3+ years of experience in civil nuclear or defence nuclear, including some safety experience.
- A Degree, Master's or PhD in a relevant STEM subject.
- Good organisational skills.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new systems quickly and adapt to the demands of different projects and client organisations.
- An appetite to continually learn, improve and stretch yourself.
Desirable Requirements
It would benefit applicants to be able to demonstrate some of the following areas:
- Technical oversight; leadership; and self-directed review.
- Experience in commercial aspects and project management.
- Technical consultancy experience.
- Chartered (or working towards) with a professional institution.
Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
