The role
As a Nuclear Safety Committee Secretary, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a vital role supporting the Ministry of Defence Safety Assurance function by providing high‑quality secretariat services to Nuclear Safety Committees. This role sits within the Design function and directly contributes to the effective governance, assurance and safe operation of critical nuclear programmes.
Day‑to‑day you’ll be required to:
- Supporting Nuclear Safety Committees by providing full pre‑ and post‑meeting secretariat services
- Preparing accurate, high‑quality technical minutes for safety‑critical meetings
- Managing document control, archives and associated databases in line with governance requirements
- Maintaining confidentiality and accuracy across sensitive and regulated information
- Providing general administrative support to the wider Design team as needed
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and based at HMNB Clyde Faslane. Hybrid working patterns are available, though you’ll be expected on site for committee meetings as required.
Essential experience of the Nuclear Safety Committee Secretary
- Proven experience in minute taking, ideally in formal or technical meetings
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Experience working in a regulated or compliance‑driven environment
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
Qualifications for the Nuclear Safety Committee Secretary
- English and Mathematics at Level 3 / Standard Grade or equivalent
- Formal or practical minute‑taking qualification or training
- Experience within quality management systems is desirable but not essential

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
