Mactech are seeking experienced Chargehand Welder’s to support safe and high-quality site delivery at Hinkley Point C
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate welders on structural steel projects
- Carry out high-quality MMA (Stick) welding on carbon steel
- Interpret engineering drawings
- Ensure all welding work complies with site quality standards, inspection requirements, and project specifications
- Promote strict health & safety standards in line with site regulations
What you will need
- Proven experience as a Chargehand or Lead Welder
- Strong background in MMA structural welding (carbon steel)
- Minimum of Level 2 Apprenticeship in Welding discipline or Level 2 Diploma in a welding discipline
- CCNSG Card
- Ability to read and interpret structural fabrication drawings
- Excellent understanding of site safety and quality compliance
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- The ability to pass a multi fillet MMA weld test

PAYE Rates
- Basic Rate: £30.58 Days / £37.46 nights
- Overtime 1 £42.82
- Overtime 2 £55.05
- Bonus up to £3.06 per hour
Additional Payments and Holidays
- Lodge Allowance: £50.81/day (£355.67/week) – if eligible
- Periodic Travel: Return rail fare + travel time – if eligible
- Holidays 25 day + public holidays
