Job Purpose / Overview
Junior Quality Engineer will support the Quality Management Team in delivering and upholding quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) standards across the HPC project. This is a learning and development-focused role designed to give hands-on experience in how quality is planned, monitored, and maintained across the entire project lifecycle - including design, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning phases.

Key Responsibilities
Learning & Development
- Shadow experienced Quality Engineers (QEs) and Quality Management Leads (QMLs) to understand key quality assurance processes and procedures.
- Attend training sessions, toolbox talks, and quality briefings to build knowledge of nuclear quality standards and site requirements.
- Learn to interpret and apply key project documents such as Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Plans, and Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs).
Operational Support
- Assist in reviewing quality documentation from suppliers, including inspection reports and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Help monitor supplier compliance with contractual quality obligations under the guidance of senior quality staff.
- Support in tracking corrective actions and contributing to basic root cause analysis exercises.
- Participate in site walkdowns, inspections, and audits (as an observer) to gain understanding of practical quality assurance methods.
- Contribute to basic data collection, reporting, and preparation of quality metrics and dashboards.
- Help maintain up-to-date records and quality documentation as per project standards.
- Attend project and area-specific quality meetings to observe and gradually contribute to discussions.
Team Contribution
- Work within the assigned delivery area or supply chain scope, supporting a specific QML or the QMTL on transversal issues.
- Provide general administrative and technical support to the Quality Delivery Team.
- Help promote a _right first time_ culture by understanding how quality links to safety, efficiency, and delivery outcomes.

Knowledge & Skills
Essential:
- Basic understanding of quality principles and interest in quality systems, assurance, or control.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills able to work well in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and willingness to follow formal procedures and documentation standards.
- Motivated to learn and take on new challenges in a regulated, safety-critical setting.
Desirable:
- Awareness of large infrastructure projects or complex supply chains.
- Some understanding of technical drawings, specifications, or engineering documentation.
- Interest in sectors such as construction, manufacturing, energy, aerospace, or defence.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Educated to A-level, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent.
- Working towards (or holding) a degree, HNC/HND or apprenticeship in a relevant subject (e.g., engineering, quality management, science, or construction).
Desirable:
- Internship, work experience, or placement year in a related industry.
- Interest in nuclear, civil engineering, or large infrastructure environments.
