How do you ensure people, systems and technology work together safely and securely in some of the nation’s most complex and high-hazard environments?
At the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), we're looking for experienced Human Factors professionals to join us as Nuclear Safety Inspectors, helping to influence safety and security across a growing and dynamic nuclear sector.
The role
You'll assess challenging and complex submissions, distilling large volumes of information, making evidence-based judgements and producing clear, concise reports. Through inspections of nuclear facilities across the UK, you'll apply human factors principles in real-world operational environments, providing expert advice and guidance that translates theory into practice.
Working with duty holders, requesting parties and multidisciplinary teams, you'll promote the value of human factors to specialist and non-specialist audiences alike, helping to drive improvement across the industry.
New Band 3 inspectors receive full training and mentoring across the first year of joining culminating in the award of a full warrant at the end of year 1
About you
You'll bring:
• A degree in Psychology, Human Factors or a related discipline.
• Eligibility for, or significant progress towards eligibility for, chartership of CIEHF, BPS or equivalent.
• Experience applying human factors principles in high hazard, highly regulated industrial settings.
• Experience of working with safety assessments and safety cases.
• Strong analytical, communication and influencing skills.
