Blogs for employers Published on 20/11/2025

Chartered Week is a national awareness week bringing together people and organisations across sectors to shine a light on Chartered registration, and celebrate the value and impact of chartered professionals across industries. Running from 23 to 27 February 2026, the continued theme for the second edition of this week is Celebrating Trusted Professionals.

As the professional membership body dedicated to nuclear, it’s a great opportunity for us to recognise the work of our Chartered members whose conduct and commitment help to strengthen the public’s trust in our evolving profession. But employers also play a vital role in recognising this talent and upholding professional standards.

Chartership with the Nuclear Institute

Professional registration is an important milestone for any engineer or scientist. It establishes their proven knowledge, understanding and competence. We’re incredibly proud of our Chartered members whose conduct and commitment allows us to raise the benchmark in our industry and shape its development.

The Nuclear Institute is licensed by Engineering Council, the Science Council and the Society for the Environment to award Chartered Engineer, Chartered Scientist and Chartered Environmentalist status.

To become Chartered through the Nuclear Institute, applicants must also meet the requirements of the Nuclear Professionalism Standard®, an industry-wide standard that sets the benchmark for professionalism in the nuclear sector.

We work with individual and organisational members to facilitate continuing professional development, provide independent recognition and accreditation of nuclear professionals.
